Voluntary opportunities
Trustees
WAYout is currently inviting applications from people interested in becoming WAYout trustees.
WAYout – Worldwide Arts for Youth is seeking passionate and motivated individuals to join our Board of Trustees.
We have achieved a lot with relatively little - becoming a registered NGO, helping street children to re-enter education, securing substantial donations of equipment and money, an award-winning documentary raising awareness about Sierra Leone's issues, building partnerships with organisations across Sierra Leone and setting up a base in Freetown. Now we need to achieve more.
We are keen to find enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who can help build our charity from a start-up charity, with great ambitions, to a successful and reputable charity with great achievements. Help us safeguard the future and effectiveness of the charity and our beneficiaries as we drive forward our ambitious plans. We are seeking innovative candidates who demonstrate knowledge and experience, strategic thinking, and independent judgement.
Experience in one of the following areas would be an advantage.Fundraising and/or philanthropy
Finance
Work in Africa / International development
Music, arts and/or media
Charity management/development
Marketing, communications and PR
Education / youth project management
Relationship-building with people of influence
As a WAYout trustee you will be expected to contribute around 2 days of your time each quarter. You will champion good governance and help us build our networks, influence and our ability to access new sources of income.
In return you will gain the opportunity to steer the shape, focus, direction and location of WAYout’s future projects as the charity grows. You will be able to see the fruits of good governance in the quality of the work we deliver and the impact we make for the people we work with. And you will be welcomed, engaged and active in making a positive difference to the quality of life of many of Sierra Leone’s young disengaged and disadvantaged people.
We are committed to equal opportunities and seek to build a diverse board of trustees and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
Being a trustee of a start-up charity is a challenge. Help us change lives. To apply, please email info@wayoutarts.org for an application form and further details.
Deadline 8th May 2009.
