OTHER CENTRES

WAYout has centres in other cities outside Freetown. In places with 70% youth unemployment and nothing for young people to do.

KONO

Kono was at the heart of the conflict and still has camps of ex-combatants on the margins of the city. It is the home town of gangster rapper Fal G who was a child soldier and opening a centre there was a good idea but also part of Fal G’s reconciliation with his past. So far it is a basic music studio. but we hope it will soon develop and have digital media and the arts. The centre is supported by The Joe Strummer Fund.
